Topic: Dussehra celebration
Classes: Montessori and Kindergarten Date: 13th October 2026
The Pre-Primary wing of NPS Yeshwanthpur celebrated Dussehra on 13th October 2026 with great enthusiasm, blending culture, creativity, devotion and joyful learning.
Dressed in vibrant ethnic attire, the children added colour to the celebration. The traditional Golu display offered a glimpse into India’s rich cultural heritage, while the children showcased their talents through storytelling, dance, singing, shloka chanting and musical performances. Each presentation reflected their confidence, creativity and enthusiasm. The children relished the delicious festive food, enjoying the flavours and traditions that made the celebration special.
The students of KG1 presented a special assembly featuring the chanting of the Navadurga stotram and a graceful dance performance to the devotional song “Aigiri Nandini.” Their heartfelt rendition and vibrant performance created a serene and devotional atmosphere, celebrating the divine feminine power and the spirit of Navaratri.
The occasion was graced by our Director, Dr. Manjula Shivshankar and Principal, Ms. Sheeja Manoj, whose presence added significance to the celebration.
Beyond the festivities, Dussehra provided valuable learning experiences. The Golu display and festival stories encouraged curiosity, imagination and cultural awareness. Storytelling enhanced language and listening skills, while dance and music nurtured rhythm, coordination and creative expression. Shloka chanting supported concentration and memory and stage performances helped children develop confidence and overcome hesitation.
At NPS Yeshwanthpur, we believe that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. Cultural celebrations provide opportunities for children to explore traditions, appreciate their heritage and develop values such as respect, gratitude and togetherness.
