From Leaf to Luxury – Sericulture’

The students of Class 10B at National Public School, Yeshwanthpur, presented a rich and informative assembly on the topic‘From Leaf to Luxury – Sericulture’, reflecting on the history of sericulture and the evolution of the textile industry. Day 1 began with a compelling narrative mime portraying the legendary discovery of silk in China, providing an introduction to the story that was to follow the next day. Day 2 started with an insightful Thought for the Day, followed by a well-structured skit showcasing the story of silk’s integration into India’s culture. It traced the journey from the arrival of silk in India to its lasting presence in traditional ceremonies. The skit emphasised key values such as teamwork among weavers, resilience in the face of challenges, a deep sense of patriotism, and the collective spirit to uplift the nation. These values were further highlighted through a captivating fashion walk, where students showcased the cultural diversity of silk in India, featuring regional varieties and traditional styles of wear. The assembly concluded with a powerful message: “Alone, a thread unravels. Together, we weave our strength.”
